Buchanan community council review

RESIDENTS in the ELLCT area invited to a drop in session at Buchanan Memorial Hall on Wednesday 11 July (4-7pm) to give feedback on potential changes to the community council boundaries.

Attendees will also have the chance to find out more about Stirling Council’s community council governance review.

Residents can also make their views known via a final online survey which runs until 1 August.

Following the consultation, a report will be submitted to a special council meeting on 23 August seeking final approval for the revised governing documents, including the final boundaries.

The revised community council scheme of establishment, constitution, standing orders and code of conduct will be enacted at the community council elections scheduled for the Autumn of 2018.

Proposed community council boundary changes

PROPOSED boundary changes to Buchanan community council area are part of Stirling Council’s current consultation on the operation of community councils.

The online consultation – open until 2 May at http://bit.ly/BuchananCCsurvey   follows an initial public consultation in October 2017 and a subsequent Community Council Conference (25 November 2017).

While much of the consultation is to do with governance and operation of community councils, there are also some proposed boundary changes – one of which directly affects Buchanan Smithy residents.

The proposals are that the community council area stays as it is –  or that Buchanan Castle Estate move into Drymen community council area

What is not made clear in the proposal that Buchanan Castle Estate be included in the Drymen community council area is that Buchanan Smithy would also be moved into the Drymen community council area.

If Buchanan Smithy residents – or any other responder – feel that another option should be considered, their option/preference should be noted in the “Other” response box.

The consultation ends on Wednesday 2 May 2018 – to make your views known, complete Stirling Council’s online survey at http://bit.ly/BuchananCCsurvey
